The last time I wrote about my life — REALLY chatted about what was going on with me personally — I had just gotten engaged and was getting married in a few short weeks.
Well, that was two years ago. Slacker? Yes, I am.
Life has been pretty fantastic. And there’s this thing that happens when you’re really enjoying life and snuggling on the sofa at night and wanting to spend every waking moment with someone. You want to live it. Not write about it.
So here I am, two years later, finally writing about it. Not that I’m not still snuggling on the sofa at night and spending every waking moment with my husband, but because I want the world to know what an amazing guy I found.
Our wedding was so sweet and lovely. We celebrated at my family’s lake house, eating and drinking with friends all afternoon before deciding a few hours ahead of schedule to just “let’s go ahead and get the wedding part over” because the sunset I had planned wasn’t going to pan out. It was hot, and we were sweaty and the gnats were swarming, and quite honestly, the sooner we got the wedding over with, the sooner the fun could really start! Once we said “let’s do it,” we were walking down the hill to the dock about 10 minutes later.
Brian’s girls, Brianna and Jamie, walked him down the hill. Jamie wasn’t too thrilled with the heat and bugs, but was excited to have flowers and a dress! Brianna had been waiting for us to get married since, I think, the day I first met them.
Henry walked me down the aisle. He was holding onto my arm with a death grip and asked me at the top of the hill, “You sure you wanna do this?” just like my Daddy would have!
Our dear friend, Paula, married us. She got ordained just for us and did a lovely job.
Apparently, a 10 minute service was long enough to warrant sitting down. This is maybe my favorite photo from the whole day!
And just like that, Brian and I were married. And the BBQ, beer, cake, and fun continued into the night!
Since that day, August 26, 2017, life has been a whirlwind. It’s been full of adventures, surprises, just-because flowers, daily struggles, Friday lunch dates, weekends with kids, weekends withOUT kids, holidays, planning, scheming, football feuding, and generally good living!
Thanks, babe, for choosing me. For choosing this life together and for making it so incredibly fun! Thank you for supporting me as I follow some crazy dreams and for putting up with my weird tendencies and anxieties. Here’s to many more years of doing life in only the way we can!
